Pterophyllum is the scientific name for what the breeders know as the Angelfish. It is a relatively small fish originally spotted in the Amazon, Orinoco or Essequibo Rivers. This fish species is part of the Cichlidae family.

This fish usually prefers to swim in waters with a temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit. They make an exception when the breeding season starts.
